Holy cow!! Now More Than Ever (the new theme for 2019), it is literally such an amazing time to be a Walt Disney World fan! There are so many new things to look forward to in 2019 and beyond, it’s hard to contain the energy and excitement for all of it!! The next few years we are going to see enormous change happening across all of the parks, so buckle your seatbelt, it’s going to be an amazing ride!

Here’s a list of everything happening!

Mickey & Minnie’s Surprise Celebration: This new celebration will honor those true originals, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, with new entertainment, merchandise and specialty food and beverages. Mickey & Minnie will greet guests together inside Town Square, and there will even be a guestbook for Guests to sign.

Dates: January 18 – September 30, 2019

Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! Street Party!: This street party replaced Move It! Shake It! Dance & Play It! street party. The newer version sounds almost like the same thing, but with new music, characters, and dance routines. An all-new song, “It’s a Good Time,” will play several times daily as part of the new parade. Join in the fun with all of your beloved friends including Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy and many others.

Dates: January 18, 2019 – September 30, 2019

Tron Lightcycle Attraction: This new roller coaster scheduled to open in time to celebrate Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary is going to be a huge addition to the Magic Kingdom. It will be located in Tomorrowland between Space Mountain and the Tomorrowland Speedway. This attraction is a super huge hit in Shanghai Disneyland, so we are super excited to have it here at Walt Disney World. Construction has begun on this project.

Dates: Scheduled to open in 2021

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Part (All-New Halloween Festivities): This year Disney has announced a NEW fireworks spectacular, new overlays on attractions, and more at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! Click here for my Complete Guide to this event!

Dates: August 16 – November 1, 2019

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (All-New Christmas Festivities): This year Disney has announced a NEW fireworks spectacular, the return of Tony’s Most Merriest Party and more at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! Click here for my Complete Guide to this event!

Dates: November 8 – December 22, 2019



Guardians of the Galaxy Roller Coaster: This roller coaster is currently being constructed where the Universe of Energy stood for over 20 years. It is ginormous! The building is so massive, it could house four Spaceship Earth attractions inside of it! This is going to be something unlike anything we’ve ever seen. This will be one of the first “storytelling coaster” connecting the adventure of a storyline with the thrills of a coaster. Guests will be fully immersed in the story.

Dates: Scheduled to open in 2021

Guardians of the Galaxy Roller Coaster Construction Update as of May 2018

Space-themed Restaurant: This new restaurant will be located between Mission Space and Test Track. It will seat more than 350 Guests that will enter the restaurant via space themed elevators. This new restaurant will make Guests feel like they are actually traveling through space using a 250-ft long digital screen wrapping around the dining room simulating outer space.

Dates: Scheduled to open late 2019

Awesome Planet: An all-new show is coming to The Land Pavilion replacing the long running Circle of Life: An Environmental Fable.

Dates: Early 2020 (in time for the Epcot International Festival of the Arts)


Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure: This new attraction will be located in the France Pavilion and is currently under construction. You can see much of the construction from the walkway between the BoardWalk and the International Gateway entrance into Epcot. This is a dark ride shrinking you down to the size of a rat taking you on a grand adventure.

Dates: Scheduled to open summer 2019 [although looks as though it will be delayed]

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Construction Update: May 7, 2019

Epcot Forever: With Illuminations ending in Summer 2019, a new nighttime spectacular is on its way… But before that new show debuts, there will be a limited-time experience called Epcot Forever, which feature classic Epcot tunes. Epcot Forever will begin with a spark of imagination that swells into an epic spectacle of fireworks, music, lighting, lasers, and special effects kites.

Dates: October 1, 2019

lluminations: Reflections of Earth Ending: It was announced earlier this year that after a 20 year run (Opening date: October 1, 1999), Illuminations: Reflections of Earth will be ending. This is a fan favorite and heart-wrenching for many, but I have no doubt that the replacement will be bigger and better than ever! I’m hoping it stays true to the meaning and spirit of Epcot! Whatever Disney does I’m sure will be spectacular!!

Dates: September 30, 2019

Illuminations Replacement: This new show will celebrate how Disney music inspires people around the world, and will feature massive floating set pieces, custom-built LED panels, choreographed moving fountains, lights, pyrotechnics and lasers.

Dates: Sometime in 2020

Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along: A new guest offering will soon debut at the France pavilion at World Showcase (in addition to “Impressions de France”) – a brand new “Beauty and the Beast” sing-along created by Don Hahn, producer of the animated and live-action “Beauty and the Beast” films.

Dates: Early 2020 (in time for the Epcot International Festival of the Arts)

O Canada Film Replacement: Imagineers are currently updating the long running O Canada film in the Canada Pavilion. 

Dates: Early 2020 (in time for the Epcot International Festival of the Arts)

Circle Vision Film in the China Pavilion: Imagineers are currently updating for a seamless viewing experience.

Dates: Early 2020 (in time for the Epcot International Festival of the Arts)

Takumi-Tei Restaurant: A all-new signature dining experience coming to the Japan Pavilion. 

Dates: Opened on July 5, 2019

Authentic Crêperie Restaurant: An all-new Table Service and Quick Service dining experience coming to the France Pavilion.

Dates: TBD

New Pavilion Coming to Epcot!: The pavilion will be themed around the power of PLAY. This new space will be devoted to playful fun and feature an innovative city that will come to life under the domed building previously known as Wonders of Life. The pavilion’s city will be extremely immersive and bursting with interactive experiences where you can explore, create, and interact with some of your favorite Disney characters, enjoy hands-on activities and engaging entertainment.

Dates: Scheduled to open in 2021

All-New Play Pavilion Coming to Epcot in 2021

Regal Eagle Smokehouse Restaurant: All-new BBQ and Craft Beer restaurant coming to the American Pavilion, taking place of the Liberty Inn

Dates: Scheduled to open late 2019


Incredibles come to Pixar: The entire area will be transformed into Metroville, the world of The Incredibles. There will be a dance party, a meet and greet with Edna Mode, photo ops, and more!

Mike & Sully Meet and Greet: Meet your favorite characters from Monsters, Inc.

Dates: Started January 18, 2019

Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy: This all-new attraction is located near/next to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Lightning demonstrates what he’s learned over the years by using his brand-new, state-of-the-art racing simulator and its wraparound screen. After the show, you’ll even have the chance to snap a photo with trainer-turned-racer Cruz Ramirez just outside the Academy.

Dates: Opened on March 31, 2019

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway: This all-new attraction is being constructed within the former Great Movie Ride building. It will bring a two-dimensional cartoon into a real-world experience. The first-ever ride-through attraction themed to Mickey Mouse will have an original story and theme song as it takes guests on a journey through the Disney Channel’s “Mickey Mouse” cartoon shorts.

Dates: Scheduled to open Spring 2020

“Wonderful World of Animation” Show: This new show debuted at Disney’s Hollywood Studios as part of the park’s 30th anniversary celebration in May. The show uses state-of-the-art projection technology to take guests on a magical journey through more than 90 years of Disney animation, all beginning with Mickey himself. This is not a replacement for Fantasmic. Both shows will run, some nights simultaneously, so you’ll need to choose one or the other.

Woody’s Roundup Rodeo BBQ Restaurant – New Table Service dining coming to Toy Story Land! This new restaurant will be themed to a backyard barbecue with Andy and his toys inviting guests to participate in fun.

Dates: TBD

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge: Naturally this new land is one of the most anticipated grand openings since Toy Story Land – perhaps even bigger depending who you talk to. The excitement is mounting, there is not shortage of amazement and awe! This is going to be HUGE!

Here’s what we know:

Guests can take the controls in one of three unique and critical roles aboard Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run (Opening August 29, 2019 in Walt Disney World). And on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (Opening December 5, 2019 in Walt Disney World and January 17, 2020 in Disneyland), guests can join an epic battle between the First Order and the Resistance – including a face-off with Kylo Ren himself!

Oga’s Cantina Restaurant/Bar: This is going to be the main dining location in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Oga’s Cantina is famous for its concoctions — which will be available with choices for kids and adults both — that feature “exotic ingredients using otherworldly methods, served in unique vessels.” Disney has confirmed that the menu will include themed cocktails, non-alcoholic specialty drinks (mocktails) and “proprietary beer and wine options”.

Millennium Falcon: Smuggler Run

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (Opening December 5, 2019)

Dates: Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open on August 29, 2019 (with Millennium Falcon) and Rise of the Resistance scheduled to open later this year on December 5, 2019.


Hakuna Matata Time Dance Party: A family-friendly event featuring music, dance, games and some of your favorite Disney friends—including Timon and Rafiki. Daily on the Discovery Island stage.

Dates: Started on January 18, 2019

Tree of Life “Lion King” Projection Show
Starting Memorial Day Weekend and appearing nightly through September 30, new projections on the Tree of Life will feature music and animation paying tribute to the classic film.

Dates: Memorial Day Weekend – September 30, 2019

“Rivers of Light – We are One”: Starting Memorial Day Weekend an all-new updated version of Rivers of Light will begin.

All-New Holiday Offerings: This year for the very first time, Animal Kingdom will join in the Holiday fun and immerse Guests in an all-new display of holiday cheer! Read more here for all of the details!

Dates: Starts November 8, 2019


Disney’s Riviera Resort: This proposed 15th Disney Vacation Club property is inspired by the European grandeur Walt Disney experienced in his travels along Europe’s Mediterranean coastline. Disney Vacation Club Members and other guests will have a great view of fireworks spectaculars and easy access to the Disney Skyliner, which will have a station at the resort.

Dates: Scheduled to open December 2019

Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort: The centerpiece of this expansion is a new 15-story tower, which you can see in the rendering above. It will add 545 guest rooms (including 50 suites!) to the resort. The tower will be the new main entry point when visiting the resort. The rest of Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is being refreshed, as well. All 1,800-plus existing rooms have been fully updated with new fixtures, furnishings and lighting. “Villa Del Lago” the hotels new restaurant will be located on an island in the middle of the resort’s 14-acre lake, Lago Dorado.

Dates: Opened on July 9, 2019

Reflections: A Disney Lakeside Lodge: A new nature-themed resort which will be located on Bay Lake between the Wilderness Lodge and the Campgrounds. This will be a deluxe resort, and will include more than 900 hotel rooms and proposed Disney Vacation Club Villas.

Dates: Scheduled to open sometime in 2022

Star Wars Resort: This resort will be seamlessly connected to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios. It will be the first of its kind, a fully immersive hotel making Guests feel like they are part of the Star Wars story. Families visiting this destination will board a starship that comes alive with characters and stories that unfold all around them during their voyage through the galaxy – and every cabin window has views of space! Guests visiting the multi-day adventure will also be welcome to participate as a resident of the Galaxy by dressing in Star Wars-inspired attire.

Disney Skyliner: This new gondola system will connect Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot to four resort hotels- Art of Animation Resort, Pop Century Resort and Caribbean Beach Resort as well as the upcoming new DVC property, Riviera Resort.

Dates: Scheduled to open on September 29, 2019

New Monorails: This is NOT official, only rumor. I generally stay away from reporting or discussing rumors, but this has been chatted about quite a bit within the Disney community. Apparently a new fleet of monorails have been ordered and will replace the current fleet at Walt Disney World that have been running since 1989. I am hoping this is a fact and not rumor as the monorails are in desperate need of repair. Here’s the hoping!

City Works Eatery and Pour House: An exciting new dining option will soon open serving craft beers and American food. There will be 80 beers on tap from local breweries as well as from around the world. If beer isn’t your cup of tea, there will be a curated selection of wines just for you!Appealing to those who love sports, there will be multiple high-def TVs all over, as well as a 165-inch tv perfect for the game of the night or week!
