Think It’s a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Perry Como or Andy Williams… there is nothing like a good old fashioned, vintage Christmas! And if you are looking for those special holiday vibes, there is no better place to visit this holiday season than Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World!
Between the timeless decorations, traditional music, Toy Story Land overlay and holiday projection shows, it is SO MUCH FUN!!! I completely enjoyed every single moment in Hollywood Studios celebrating the season on my recent visit! And let’s not forget the array of special holiday treats and cocktails! They are delicious!! For a complete listing, click here.
When visiting recently, I tried Christmas on the Beach (Blue Liqueur, Caribbean Rum, and Pineapple and Cranberry juices) found at the Hollywood Derby Lounge, and later in the evening the Frosted Gingerbread Cocktail (Vodka, Bailey’s, Kahlua, Gingerbread syrup and Vanilla Ice Cream!) found at Backlot Express. The adorable mini Santa macaroons can be found at Baseline Tap. They were absolutely delicious and not too sweet. I promised myself I would not eat the bag of 5, and lo and behold, I did! 🙂 They were THAT yummy!
With all of the ongoing construction at the Studios, it has admittedly been my least favorite park to visit in recent years. There are fewer attractions and stage shows to enjoy and I personally think there hasn’t been a good enough reason or draw to visit the park…. until Toy Story Land opened this past Summer! That changed everything – Toy Story Land is absolutely adorable, and now with the special Christmas overlay, it is even more cute! Who can resist Woody and the gang in all of their holiday gear and festive cheer, oversized cranberry-and-popcorn garland, a massive Hamm sugar cookie, Green Alien ornaments, and antlers on Rex! Alien Swirling Saucers even plays holiday music while riding! It’s not to be missed!
Hollywood Studios nailed the vintage charm of Christmas around Echo Lake. I could have stayed in that area all day and been very happy. The traditional holiday tunes, special cocktails and retro decorations remind me of an old fashioned Christmas.
There are also countless photo opportunities throughout the park. Not only can you create your own photo ops, but there are numerous PhotoPass photographers throughout the park. Take advantage of them! And if they aren’t too busy, ask them if they’ll take a pic with your personal phone or camera. They’ll be more than happy do so!
Don’t forget to take your time and really enjoy what is around you. No one does detail better than Walt Disney World! And because of that, you can spend a lot of time exploring and taking in all of the Christmas sights, sounds and smells!
And as nighttime closes in, the fun is really just beginning! You can’t miss Sunset Seasons Greetings on Sunset Boulevard. This amazing projection show on the Hollywood Tower of Terror sparkles and shines continuously throughout the night. It’s so magical with twinkling lights and snow falling as you watch this magical show featuring many of our favorite Disney characters and catchy tunes!
Cap off your night with Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! Another awesome whimsical projection show, this time using the Chinese Theater as the backdrop. Follow along as the elves set out to get Santa back to the North Pole in time for Christmas Eve!! Will they succeed?? Of course they do, it’s Disney!! There is always a happy ending! 🙂 I found myself singing along to all of my favorite Christmas tunes during the show! It’s a wonderful, festive show filled with great classic holiday music, snow and fireworks! What better way to end an evening!
Turns out, Hollywood Studios was my favorite park this holiday season! I did not anticipate that walking through the gates, but there were so many thing to fall in love with! All the holiday fun will be around until January 6th, 2019. Be sure to get to the Studios and experience all the joy and fun for yourself!
